Senior leader of Nepali Congress Dr. Shekhar Koirala has started a nationwide campaign at a time when the discourse of reformation in the party is heating up.

With the aim of connecting the Congress with the people, Koirala has started a nationwide campaign from his hometown Biratnagar.

It is said that under the campaign, leader Koirala will visit districts, constituencies, and local units to listen to the people and communicate with party leaders and workers.

His personal secretary Dinesh Chandra Thapaliya said that the nationwide campaign was launched from Biratnagar with the main goal of connecting the Congress with the general public.

"The main goal of the campaign is to connect with the people," says Thapliya.

Koirala's secretariat said that the campaign to connect the Congress with the people is a continuation of the nationwide campaign conducted by leader Koirala before the 14th General Convention.

"In the past, he used to take the advice and suggestions of the leaders and cadres at whatever level he reached. Again, it is a matter of taking general advice," said Thapaliya.

According to leader Gururaj Ghimire, Koirala will visit the districts and meet with active members of the party along with the leaders of various levels of the party, leaders of sister and fraternal organizations, and people from commercial and professional fields.

"During the campaign before the convention, he used to meet friends from different levels of the party, friends from fraternal and benevolent organizations, professionals, and active members," said leader Ghimire, who reached the districts with Koirala in the previous campaign.

Leader Koirala launched a nationwide campaign after the party's 13th convention. As part of this campaign, he visited 69 districts and interacted with the people, Congress leaders, and cadres.

Leader Koirala reached out to the people and said that he started a nationwide campaign to advance the party.

"I have started the campaign again as I did before," he said, "We have to reach out to the people and move forward according to their advice."

He could not reach the Himalayan districts of Manang, Mustang, Dolpa, Humla, Mugu, Bajura, Bajhang, and Darchula during the campaign which started after the 13th General Convention.

At that time, it was not possible to go to the Himalayan districts due to snow. "Now we have to reach all 77 districts, listen to the people at the lower level, take advice and suggestions," said Thapaliya.

In the campaign started after the by-election, leader Koirala has made up his mind to take the leaders of both groups of the party with him.

Leader Koirala has been saying that the Congress should be strengthened so as to compete alone in the upcoming elections. He said that it is necessary to strengthen the party organization and fight the local, provincial and federal elections alone.

In a program held last Friday in his hometown Biratnagar, Koirala vowed to connect with the people and party workers and claimed to bring the Congress back to its old state by connecting with the general public.
