The ruling CPN (Maoist Center) on Monday put forth a proposal that Nepal be declared a ‘zone of peace’ by keeping the country out of external military activities.

Outlining its international relations in the manifesto for the upcoming elections, the party pledged that Nepal will not align with any kind of bilateral or multilateral military alliances.

The party vowed to adopt a foreign policy in line with the principles of world peace, principles of Panchasheel, non-alignment, UN charter and national interests.

“While executing the country’s foreign policy, right to self-determination, independence, territorial integrity and sovereignty will be given top most priority,” the CPN (Maoist Center) stated in the manifesto.

The party said that Nepal’s territory will not be allowed to be used against the neighboring countries.

“The country will deepen friendly ties with the neighboring countries keeping in mind the geopolitical sensitivities,” reads the manifesto.

The party has unveiled its commitment paper targeting the upcoming House of Representatives (HoR) and the Province Assembly (PA). The elections are scheduled to be held on November 20.
