President Ram Chandra Paudel has appointed three members of parliament (MPs) of Nepali Congress (NC) as ministers.
Paudel appointed Dhanraj Gurung, Mohan Bahadur Basnet and Dig Bahadur Limbu as ministers.
According to Sagar Acharya, the spokesperson at the Office of the President, Gurung has been appointed as the Minister for law, justice and parliamentary affairs, Basnet has been given the responsibility of the Ministry of Health and Population and Limbu has been assigned with the responsibility of the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ expanded the cabinet for the eighth time on April 16.
In the eighth extension, Congress MP NP Saud was appointed as Foreign Minister and Nanda Chapai MP of CPN (Unified Socialist) was appointed as Minister of State for Physical Infrastructure and Transport. Prior to that, Prachanda had appointed four ministers on behalf of the Congress on March 31.
During the seventh expansion, Purna Bahadur Khadka had been appointed as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defense, Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat as the Minister for Finance, Sita Gurung as the Minister for Urban Development and Ramesh Rijal as the Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies.
Two ministries -- the Ministry of Forest and the Ministry of Water Supply -- are still under the Prime Minister.
