Chief Minister of Gandaki Province Surendra Pandey has received the vote of confidence.
Pandey secured 35 votes in favor and 22 against him in the provincial meeting held on Thursday.
Pandey was appointed Chief Minister on April 28.
He got 27 votes from Nepali Congress, seven from CPN (Maoist Center) and one from Deepak Manange, the MP of CPN (Unified Socialist).
However, RPP remained neutral. Earlier, RPP had voted for UML Chief Minister Khagraj Adhikari. Pancharam Gurung also became a minister on behalf of RPP.
Twenty-two MPs of CPN (UML) voted against the motion.
Pandey became the Chief Minister after UML leader Khagraj Adhikari, who became Chief Minister with the support of Maoist Center and RPP on January 9, lost the vote of confidence on March 23.
He formed a three-member cabinet comprising Saraswati Tiwari Aryal of the Congress and Sushila Simkhada of the Maoist Center.
Currently there are seven ministries in the Gandaki Province.
Out of which the Maoist center has asked for three ministries, while Unified Socialist MP Rajiv Gurung alias Deepak Manange is also lobbying to become a minister.
