Newly appointed American Ambassador to Nepal Dean Thompson has paid a courtesy call on CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ on Tuesday.
Held at the Prachanda’s residence in Khumaltar this morning, Maoist Center Chairman Prachanda, who is also the former Prime Minister of Nepal, and Ambassador Thompson discussed the matters related to age-old bilateral ties the Nepal and America, Nepal’s politics and economic development.
Prachanda, during the meeting with the US diplomat, loaded the constructive role played by America in the development of the Himalayan nation.
“Nepal and America have been enjoying an intimate bilateral relations for years. I am hopeful that this relationship will take a new height during your tenure,” said Prachanda during the meeting.
In response, Thompson said that the US will continue its support to Nepal’s initiative in achieving its sustainable and inclusive economic development.
Meanwhile, Thompson expressed belief that the 75-year-old diplomatic ties between the two countries will touch a new height during his ambassadorial stint.
