Leaders of major political parties have committed to providing the citizenship with socioeconomic rights to the non-resident Nepalis.
Addressing the 15th Europe Regional Conference of NRN Association underway in Prague of Czech Republic on Sunday, the leaders of Nepali Congress, CPN-UML, CPN (Maoist), Rastriya Swatantra Party spoke univocally on the citizenship issue demanded by the NRNs.
On the occasion, Foreign Minister NP Saud said there no doubt that NRN would be provided Nepali citizenship as envisioned by the constitution.
He assured that NRN's demand of citizenship with socioeconomic rights would be provided to them in near future. He however admitted that it was delayed to address the NRN's demand on citizenship.
Chief Whip of Nepali Congress, Ramesh Lekhak, said NC was positive on providing citizenship to the non-resident Nepalis.
"As the constitution has provisioned it, we are ready to extend cooperation to NRNs to this end," UML Vice Chair Subash Chandra Nembang pledged.
Also extending readiness to support on NRN's demand were lawmaker of Rastriya Swatantra Party, Manish Jha, and lawmaker of CPN (Maoist Centre), Khimlal Devkota.
The NRN's 15th European Conference will issue the Prague declaration after concluding the event begun on Friday.
