Nepali Congress General Secretary Gagan Thapa has said that market rumors and lobby should not affect the investigation into the fake Bhutanese refugee case.

Thapa said this in the meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) following the arrest of former Home Minister and party leader Bal Krishna Khand on Wednesday.

"The investigation should not be affected by market rumors and political meetings. Let the investigation be free and fair," said Thapa, a lawmaker from Kathmandu-4, "The guilty should be spared, be it a leader or a relative, and the innocent should not be penalized.”

He has also suggested that the government take action on the issue of fake Bhutanese refugees without fear and in a fair manner.

"I appreciate the works done by the government so far,” said Thapa.
