Massive fire at Rathi Industries contained, guts property worth Rs 50 mln

The fire that broke out at Rathi Industries Limited in Budhiganga Rural Municipality of Morang was contained after nine hours.

The fire, which started at 2 am on Friday, was brought under control around 11 am in the factory that manufactures electric bulbs and switches.

Morang police spokesperson DSP Ranjan Kumar Dahal said, “The fire was brought under control after nine hours with the help of 12 fire engines from Morang, Sunsari and Jhapa.”

Nepal Police and Armed Police Force officials along with fire engines were mobilized to put out the fire.

According to a preliminary report of the police, properties worth Rs 50 million was reduced to ashes due to the destruction of the bulbs and switches ready for sale along with the other equipment.

The fire is believed to have been caused by an electrical short. However, the police said they are investigating the cause of the fire.
