Japan optimistic about holding of Nepal's upcoming polls in a peaceful manner

CEC Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya held a meeting with Japanese Ambassador Yutaka Kikuta at the Election Commission on Wednesday.

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya and Ambassador of Japan to Nepal, Yutaka Kikuta,  held a meeting at the Election Commission on Wednesday. 

During the meeting, Ambassador Yutaka congratulated CEC Thapaliya for the successful conduct of local elections in May, according to a press release issued by the Japanese Embassy in Kathmandu.

He also expressed hope that the upcoming elections of the House of Representatives and Provincial Assembly on November 20 will be held in a democratic and peaceful manner. 

On the occassion, Thapaliya expressed his gratitude for the cooperation of Japan, including logistic supports for Nepal's previous elections.

He also said that preparations for November elections are in progress in smooth manner. Ambassador Yutaka highlighted that Japan has been supporting Nepal’s democratization stating that democray is indispensable for the development and prosperity of Nepal.

Both Ambassador Yutaka and CEC Thapaliya underlined the need to continue to promote the friendly relationship  between the two countries, said the embassy.
