Former Prime Minister and Chairman of Nepal Samajwadi Party (NSP) Dr. Baburam Bhattarai has announced that he will not contest elections this time.
Posting a Facebook message on Monday, Dr Bhattarai said he will not take part in the upcoming federal elections to be held on November 20.
"I am grateful to all the brothers, sisters, mothers, and fathers of Gorkha district for giving me opportunities to serve you by electing me in the elections held in 2064, 2070, and 2074 BS," reads the message, adding, "For your kind information, I, this time, will not contest the federal elections scheduled to be held on November 20, 2079 BS."
Shying away from contesting polls is not by any means quitting elections, he said, assuring that the Gorkha people will get a more qualified and responsible candidate in the upcoming elections.
