Nepal Workers’ and Peasants’ Party (NWPP) has voiced for a provision of the death penalty to curb criminal activities and heinous crimes taking place in the country.

The NWPP in its recently unveiled election manifesto, it has underlined the need to keep the provision of the death penalty in the constitution to tackle heinous crimes, including, murder, rape and corruption.

In the manifesto, it has put aside a separate section titled ‘the debate on the necessity of the death penalty for the development of the country' that deals with why the death penalty is needed.

“The number of heinous crimes increased due to the lack of the death penalty,” said NWPP central member Surendra Raj Gosai told Nepalkhabar, adding, “We have in the commitment paper raised a voice for the necessity of death penalty to bring down such criminal activities which have seriously marred the development of the country.
