Indian ambassador to Nepal Naveen Srivastava handed over vehicles to CEC Thapliya on the premises of Election Commission on Thursday. On the occasion, CEC Thapaliya thanked Indian government for providing vehicles to Nepal.

The chief election commissioner said that Nepal-India relationship is based on goodwill and mutual cooperation. "Periodic polls are crucial for keeping a democracy alive," he said. On his part, Ambassador Srivastava said that India gifted the vehicles upon the request of Nepal.

"As a next-door neighbor, it is a matter of pleasure for India to gift vehicles for elections. We hope that the logistic support will help in the smooth conduct of polls," he said.  Election Commissioners Ram Prasad Bhandari, Janaki Kumari Tuladhar and secretary at the Election Commission Gokarna Mani Duwadi attended the program.  Earlier on Monday, India gifted 200 vehicles to Finance Minister Janardan Sharma.
