The Parliamentary Hearing Committee (PHC) has endorsed Acting Chief Justice Hari Krishna Karki as the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Nepal.
According to Dol Prasad Aryal, a member of the PHC, Karki was unanimoulsy endorsed by the Committee to lead the judiciary.
"Karki, who was recommended to the Chief Justice by the Constitutional Council, has been unanimously endorsed by the committee," Dol Prasad Aryal, a member of the PHC, told Nepalkhabar.
In the meeting of the committee held at Singh Durbar this morning, the members of the committee asked Karki about his qualities to become the Chief Justice which was followed by a question-answer session.
As many as 29 complaints had been filed by 38 people including a sitting judge of a district court, against Karki.
Responding to the questions, Karki said that if any allegation leveled against him is proved, he will resign from the post.
The President appoints the person endorsed by the PHC to the Chief Justice as per the provision of the Constitution.
Karki will serve a short term at the office and retire on August 5 due to age limit of 65 years.
