Digital Nepal Conclave 2023 begins in Kathmandu

Digital Nepal Conclave 2023, the largest digital conference of Nepal, and Huawei Mobile Nepal Congress have concurrently started in Kathmandu on Friday.

Launched by ICT Foundation Nepal, Digital Nepal Conclave 2023 kicked off simultenously with Huawei Mobile Nepal Congress at Soaltee Hotel.

The Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda', who was invited as the chief guest, inaugurated the event. Speaking at the program, Prime Minister Dahal said, "The government has emphasized on reducing the digital divide and digital economy. Necessary policies for the development of information technology would be implemented soon."

Laying emphasis on infrastructure to develop digital capacity, Prime Minister Dahal thanked the ICT Foundation of Nepal and Huawei for the arrangement that focuses to create better understanding about ICT development among the industry players and stakeholders in Nepal. 

After the inauguration, the Prime Minister visited Huawei Nepal Congress 2023 where he witnessed the advance solutions like 5G, AI, Green Data Center, Huawei Cloud etc., along with other new technologies.

Similarly, Communications and Information Technology Minister, Rekha Sharma was invited as the special guest of the two-day event.

At a special session titled 'Fireside Power Sambad' during the inauguration ceremony, Minister Sharma shared that with the development of information technology in Nepal recently, there has also been a change in thinking. "ICT is not only for entertainment but also for production industry and digital economy now," said Sharma.

Delivering a welcome speech for the event, Rajan Lamsal, the president of ICT Foundation Nepal and chairman of the program said, “The two-day conclave is being organized in an effort to measure digital capabilities for digital transformation.” 

Likewise, Pan Junfeng, the president of Huawei South Asia Regional Office, said, “The realization of Digital Nepal is inseparable from the upgrading of infrastructure and industry digital transformation. Huawei has been working in Nepal ICT domain for the last 23 years."

"With the vision of 'In Nepal, for Nepal', we are committed to be dedicated to ICT development and cultivate local ICT talents and ecosystem in order to enable Digital Nepal. Huawei MNC and Digital Nepal Conclave will help the industry to grow further," Pan said.

In the two-day conclave, there are more than 70 resource persons including ICT experts from different countries, and 15 sessions will be conducted on six different topics. Subject matter experts from South Korea, Singapore, India, and Bangladesh are attending the conclave. The experts will also be presenting their working papers as well.

On the first day of the event, Lee Yun Seng, the Senior Industry Solutions Expert of Huawei Asia Pacific region presented a Keynote on Enabling Digital Transformation of Public Services. And Dilip Agarwal, the President of World Link, presented a paper on Digital Capabilities.

The conclave being held under the slogan of 'Fostering Digitally Saksham Nepal' will emphasize Nepal's capability for digital transformation and the necessary policies and implementation for it.

Likewise, Krishna Bahadur Raut, Secretary of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, Ganesh Shah, former Minister, Purushottam Khanal, the chairman of Nepal Telecommunication Authority, other senior officials of the Government of Nepal, representatives of different organizations, national and international speakers, personalities working in the field of information technology among others were  present on the occasion.
