Thapa sworn-in as Koshi’s Chief Minister

Newly appointed Chief Minister of Koshi Province, Uddhav Thapa, has been administered the oath of office and secrecy amidst a ceremony organized at the Office of the Province Chief on Wednesday.

Province Chief Parshuram Khapung administered the oath to CM Thapa in accordance with Article 168 (2) of Constitution.

Thapa took oath as Chief Minister for the second time in 26 days. Thapa, who became the Chief Minister on July 6, had been dismissed by the Supreme Court's decision on July 27.

He became the Chief Minister for the second time with the backing of 47 lawmakers including 29 from Nepali Congress, 13 from CPN (Maoist Center), four from Unified Socialist and one from Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP).

Provincial Assembly Speaker Baburam Gautam resigned on Tuesday to make Thapa the Chief Minister and played a role in achieving the majority of lawmakes.

After taking oath, Thapa, appointed three ministers in the first phase today.

Baburam Gautam has been appointed as Minister for Economic Affairs and Planning, Pradip Kumar Sunuwar as Minister for Irrigation and Energy, and Kamal Prasad Jabegu has been given the responsibility of Minister for Physical Infrastructures Development.

The newly appointed ministers took the oath of office and secrecy from Province Chief Khapung.
