Nepali national cricket team former captain Gyanendra Malla has retired from the international cricket.
Malla, in a press meet organized in Kathmandu on Friday, announced his retirement from the international cricket.
He thanked all those who helped him to arrive at this point of his international cricket career while announcing his retirement.
Malla announced his retirement the day after the national team returned home after participating in the Emerging Asia Cup.
Malla was not in the team when the Nepal’s national team participated in the Emerging Nations Cup held in Sri Lanka, recently.
Four senior players including Malla were given rest in the Emerging Asia Cup.
Malla who was denied participating in the emerging cup got an opportunity to play some matches of World Cup Qualifiers held recently in Zimbabwe. But he did not perform as expected.
While the influence of the youth players growing in the Nepali team, Gyanendra Malla announced retirement, following in former captain Paras Khadka’s footsteps.
Paras had also taken retirement from the cricket careers on August 2, 2021. Malla had shouldered the responsibility of the captaincy of the national cricket team.
