The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has suspended all flights of Simrik Air helicopters starting today (Friday).
Gyanendra Bhul, information officer of the CAAN, said the flights of all the helicopters of the aforesaid company have been banned for its failure to pay 4.6 million rupees owed to the Authority.
According to him, the financial audit conducted by the Authority's team showed that the financial condition of Simrik Air is weak, so the flights are suspended in view of the possible insecurity.
"Financial situation of Simrik Air is found weak. Hence, pilots and employees are not getting their salaries. It is considered serious from the point of view of flight safety, so the Authority has stopped the flight of all helicopters of Simrik Air starting today", said information officer Bhul.
Simrik Air flights have been stopped in line with the Civil Aviation Regulations, 2058 and Airport Service Fee Regulations, 2078.
According to Bhul, the flight will remain banned until the arrears are cleared and if the arrears are paid today, the flight will be allowed.
Of the four helicopters with Simrik Air, one is damaged and the remaining three are operational.
