Normal life resumes as injunction lifted in Dharan

The prohibitory order has been lifted from Sunday morning in Dharan Sub Metropolitan City, Sunsari. As the local administration lifted the ban, the normal life has resumed in the sub-metropolis.

The District Administration Office, Sunsari had issued a prohibitory order from Friday night to Saturday night in Dharan area in order to preempt racial and religious confrontations.

Due to the ban, Dharan remained deserted throughout the day on Saturday.

A large number of police were deployed in Dharan on Saturday to implement the prohibitory order to prevent possible clashes among the religious communities.

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda, Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, Dharan Mayor Harak Sampang and the National Human Rights Commission have appealed to maintain communal harmony in Dharan.

Similarly, various political parties, former mayors of Dharan, and various organizations and civil society members have also appealed to maintain social harmony in the Dharan Sub Metropolis.
