Chatur Bahadur Chand elected CAN president unopposed.

Chatur Bahadur Chand has been elected unopposed as the president of the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN).

Chand was elected unopposed after the presidential candidate Binay Raj Bhandari did not register his candidature in the election process that continued on Saturday.

Earlier, he had announced that he would file his candidacy for the presidency.

Since six proposers are needed to be a candidate for the presidency, he could not register as the number was not enough.

Paras Khadka, the former captain of the national cricket team, has filed his nomination as secretary from the Chand panel. Central member Prashanta Bikram Malla has filed his candidacy against Paras.

Roshan Singh has also been elected unopposed as the vice president.

Similarly, Padam Khadka has been elected unopposed from the Chand panel as treasurer.

Jayanti Bhatta from Sudurpaschim Province has been elected unopposed as a female member.

Elections are being held today for the 17-member working committee of CAN. Two of the 19 members will be nominated by the National Sports Council.
