19th Asian Games: Nepal registers 138-run win against Maldives

Nepal defeated Maldives by 138 runs in T20 cricket tournament under the 19th Asian Games held in Hangzhou, China.

Chasing a 213-run target, Nepal registered a victory by bowling out Maldives for 74 runs with two balls remaining. With the win, Nepal has entered the quarterfinals.

Abinash Boahara performed brilliantly in Nepal's victory. Abinash took six wickets against Maldives at the cost of  11 runs in 3.4 overs. Sompal Kami, Gulsan Jha, Sandeep Lamichhane and Kushal Bhurtel took one wicket each.

Muaviath Ganee topped the score for Maldives with 36 runs. He hit two fours and two sixes off 34 balls. Rasheed Rassam and Fareed Shius contributed 12 and 10 runs, respectively. But six batsmen could not double digit runs. 

Earlier, elected to bat first after winning the toss, Nepal notched up 112 runs losing seven wickets in the allotted T20I. Captain Rohit Paudel hit a half-century followed by Kushal Malla with 47 runs while Gulsan Jha and Kushal Bhurtel made 35 runs each.

Nazwan Ismail took the highest three wickets while Naseer Naail Ismail, Mohamed Miuvaan and Tholal Mohamed Raya claimed one wicket each for Maldives.

In the first match, Nepal defeated Mongolia by 273 runs.
