Cricket WC 2023: Pakistan beats Sri Lanka by 6 wickets

Pakistan defeated Sri Lanka in the match of ODI World Cup 2023 held in India on Tuesday. Pakistan defeated Sri Lanka by 6 wickets.

Electing to bat first after winning the toss, Sri Lanka made a total of 344 runs by losing nine wickets in the allotted 50 overs. Pakistan achieved the target of 345 runs by losing four wickets in 48.2 overs. For Pakistan, Abdullah Shafique scored 113, Mohammad Rizwan scored 131 not out runs, Iftikhar Ahmed scored 22 not out, Saud Shakeel scored 31 and Imam-ul-Haq scored 12 runs.

On the bowling side, Dilshan Madushanka took two wickets for Sri Lanka.

Earlier, while batting for Sri Lanka, Kusal Mendis and Sadeera Samarawickrama scored century innings. Mendis contributed the highest 122 runs. He hit 14 fours and 6 sixes off 77 balls.

Similarly, Samarawickrama scored 108 runs. He hit 11 fours and 2 sixes off 79 deliveries. Similarly, Pathum Nissanka added 51 runs in 61 balls. He hit seven fours and one six in the process. Dhananjaya de Silva scored 25 off 34 balls with four fours, captain Dashun Shanaka scored 12 runs and Dunith Wellalage scored 10 runs.

In reply, Hasan Ali of Pakistan took four wickets, Haris Rauf took two wickets and Shaheen Shah Afridi, Mohammad Nawaz and Shadab Khan took one wicket each.

 In the ongoing World Cup, Sri Lanka lost the first match against South Africa by 102 runs.

Pakistan defeated Netherlands by 81 runs in its first match.
