With Captain Dev Khanal's record century, the Nepali team has made a flying start in the ACC U-19 Premier Cup.
Nepal defeated Iran by a wide margin of 274 runs in the Premier Cup that kicked off in Malaysia from Thursday.
Chasing the huge target of 354 runs given by Nepal, Iran was bowled out after scoring only 79 runs in 30.5 overs.
Nepal's Dipesh Kandel and Subhas Bhandari took three wickets each to restrict Iran to a low score.
Subhas Bhandari, who bowled lethally, took 3 wickets in 8.5 overs including 4 maidens at the cost of 6 runs. Dipesh Kandel took 3 wickets in 7 overs with 3 maidens and 4 runs.
Akash Chand and Hemant Dhami took 2 wickets each.
Thirty-seven runs made by wicket keeper Amer Khorsand was the highest score for Iran.
Saber Ebrahimipour remained not out for 11 runs. No other batter could reach double-digit scores.
Prior to that, electing to bat first after winning the toss at the UKM Cricket Oval Cricket Ground in Bangi, Malaysia today, Iran notched up 353 runs in 30.5 overs.
Captain Dev Khanal scored a record century against Iran with 12 fours and 4 sixes off 60 balls, becoming the first player to score the century from the U-19 team.
For the third wicket, captain Dev Khanal and Deepak Bohara shared a century of 166 runs off 98 balls.
Deepak was dismissed for 65 off 59 balls with 5 fours and 2 sixes.
Wicketkeeper Deepak Prasad Dumre was dismissed for 69 runs. Dipesh Kandel 29, Akash Chand 19, Hemant Dhami 23, Subhas Bhandari added 18 runs.
Openers Arjun Kumal and Milan Bohara were dismissed for golden ducks when Akash Tripathi was dismissed for 3 runs.
Dadrahman Raeisi and Salman Niazmand took 3 wickets for Iran. Samaan Sheikhi and Zeid Raeisi took two wickets each.
In the second match of the group stage, Nepal will play against Bahrain on Sunday.
