DPM Shrestha in Chengdu

Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister, Narayan Kaji Shrestha has arrived in Chengdu of Sichuan Province, China.

Leading a Nepali delegation, DPM Shrestha embarked on China visit at the invitation of Minister for Public Safety and Secretary of Communist Party of China, Wang Xiaohong.

Director General of Department of Ecology and Environment of Sichuan Province Yu Weian, and Acting Consul General at the Nepali Consulate General in Chengdu of China Manahari Dangal welcomed DPM Shrestha at Tianfu International Airport, Chengdu.

The DPM is scheduled to participate in the Third Belt and Road Forum (BRF) for International Cooperation taking place in Beijing, China.

Similarly, the DPM is addressing the discussion about the policy and progress of the high-level forum on green development as the keynote speaker to be held on October 17 and 18.

According to the Home Ministry, the Deputy Prime Minister and Chinese Public Safety Minister Wang would hold discussions on bilateral cooperation and relations.

Shrestha is also scheduled to attend the dinner to be hosted by Chinese President Xi Jinping. The conference is being organized to review the BRI implementation and progress upon completion of a decade of the BRI. China had organized such conferences in 2017 and 2019.

There would be participation of the heads of the states and governments from around three dozens of countries in the conference, it is said.

The Nepali delegation led by DPM Shrestha comprises Joint Secretary at the Home Ministry, Narayan Prasad Bhattarai, Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Amrit Rai, Chief Executive Officer of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, Anil Pokharel, among other officials.
