Speaker of the National Assembly, Ganesh Prasad Timilsina, has met with the President of the Senate of Belgium, Stephanie D'Hose.
The meeting was held on Thursday in Luanda, the capital of Angola, during the 147th General Assembly of the Inter-Administrative Union (IPU).
During the meeting, Chairman Timilsina said that the bilateral relations between Nepal and Belgium are characterized by harmony, trust, and mutual respect, recalling that both countries have shared common views in international forums.
Emphasizing that they have been supporting each other in various international forums, he thanked Belgium for its contribution to Nepal's development efforts through various donor agencies.
He said that the parliaments of the two countries have an important role in strengthening the relationship between Nepal and Belgium. "The parliaments of the two countries have an important role in strengthening the relationship between Nepal and Belgium," Chairman Timilsina said.
"If we can create an environment for a significant number of tourists to come to Nepal, it will help boost Nepal's economic development since mountain climbing and hiking in Nepal are popular among Belgian citizens," he said.
During the meeting, the Speaker of the Belgian Parliament, Stephane D'Hose, said that there are many similarities between Nepal and Belgium, and emphasized that they can cooperate to reduce the impact of climate change and guarantee human rights.
Remembering that Belgium had helped Nepal during the time of COVID-19, she also promised to help in the future to reduce the incidents of natural disasters caused by climate change.
