A complaint has been lodged against the proposed Nepali Ambassador to Canada, Bharat Raj Paudyal, in the parliamentary hearing committee (PHC) alleging that he provided the scholarship to his own daughter.
According to the complaint, he abused his power by sending his daughter Pallavi to Switzerland on a scholarship quota meant for a government official.
Similarly, the complainant has also claimed that Paudyal, who sent his daughter on a scholarship to get Rs 600,000 per month, bled the state coffer further by keeping her in the residence of the Nepali embassy.
In the complaints submitted to the committee, Paudyal has also been accused of receiving allowances by attending foreign programs meant for Kharidar (non-gazetted second class) and Subba (non-gazetted first class).
Paudyal, the secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, was recommended by the Council of Ministers as Nepali ambassador to Canada on October 20.
The PHC had invited complaints against him following the government’s decision.
Paudyal, who is retiring on December 6, is facing the hearing of the parliamentary committee today itself.
