Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has stated that the provision of secularism as laid down in the Constitution of Nepal will remain unchanged.
Speaking at an interaction with a group of editors in Singha Durbar on Monday, Prime Minister Dahal said, “Following intensive discussions, we made provisions for secularism and preservation of traditional religions and cultures in the Constitution of Nepal.”
He further shared that a meeting of the central work execution committee (CWEC) of the Nepali Congress also unanimously agreed not to amend the constitutional provisions related to secularism.
“A CWEC meeting of the ruling Nepali Congress has also decided not to amend the constitutional provision related to secularism,” said Prime Minister Prachanda.
If the secularism is deleted from the Constitution, it will impact republic and if the republic is impacted, federalism will be in jeopardy, which will result in deteriorating situations, the Prime Minister said.
Prime Minister Prachanda also said that the cabinet will not be reshuffled immediately, describing the media reports as such mere ‘rumor.’
