Arrest warrant issued against four NCP leaders including Biplav

The Kathmandu District Court has issued an arrest warrant against the leaders of Nepal Communist Party (NCP) including General Secretary Netra Bikram Chanda alias Biplav.

A 35-day arrest warrant was issued against NCP leaders including Biplav in accordance with the petition related to an act of treason lodged in the Kathmandu District Court.

The arrest warrant has been issued against General Secretary Biplav, politburo member Khadga Bahadur Biswakarma (Prakanda), Maila Lama, Raju Karki, the chairman of All Nepal Peasants Federation.

Maila Lama and Biplav, against whom two cases have been filed, have been summoned to court. The court on November 26, 2023 had issued the arrest warrant against NCP leaders after the police reported to the court that they were absconding. .

They have been asked to turn up in court in person with evidence within 35 days from the date of issue except the travel time .

If the deadline is missed, the case will be proceeded according to the law and no appeal will be entertained later, reads the notice.

The case was filed against them on December 26, 2019, accusing them of jeopardizing the relations among federal units and various castes and communities, thereby committing an offense against the State.
