The government has formed a five-member committee to investigate the case surrounding the sales and purchases of Ncell shares.
A cabinet meeting of the Council of Ministers held on Thursday formed a five member panel headed by former Auditor General Tanka Mani Sharma, in which Phanindra Gautam, the secretary at the Office of the Prime Minister and Ritesh Shakya, the joint secretary at the Finance Ministry, are members.
Similarly, Baburam Bhandari, the joint secretary at the Ministry of Communication and Information Technolgoy and the president of the Institute of Chartered Accounts of Nepal (ICAN) Sujan Kumar Kafle are also members.
The committee has been entrusted with the task of submitting an investigation report within a month.
Parliamentary committees had directed the government to investigate the case after Malaysian company Axiata sold 80 percent of its shares at Ncell to a company registered in the United Kingdom (UK) at a low price.
Similarly, the cabinet meeting appointed Rudra Prasad Gautam as the chairman of Water Tariff Fixation Commission, in which Yasoda Karki and Kulbhushan Sharma are members.
Likewise, the meeting has also formed a talks team under the coordination of a joint secretary at the Finance Ministry for the first tranche of the financial aid to be provided by the World Bank for the ‘Provincial and Local Road Upgradation Program', informed Minister Rekha Sharma.
