Cold grips Valley as mercury dips to 6.2 degrees

The temperature has gone down to 6.2 degrees Celsius this morning, the Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD) has said.  

"This is the coldest temperature to date this year," said Sanjeev Adhikari, a meteorologist at the Meteorological Forecasting Division, "Earlier, it was recorded at 7.4 degrees Celsius on December 3.

The weather in the Kathmandu Valley is generally clear with thin mist in some places, said Adhikari. 

"Thin mist is witnessed in some places," said Adhikari, "The current visibility in the Valley is 5 kilometers. But, it likely to go down," said Adhikari.

In meteorological terms, fog is when you can see less than 1,000 meters away, and if you can see further than 1,000 meters, it is called mist.

The weather will remain clear today, said Adhikari.
