Nepali Congress leader Shekhar Koirala has claimed (that) there is no dispute among leaders in his camp.
Emerging from the meeting held at Anupam Foodland in Battisputali on Wednesday, Koirala said this at a time when rumors of differences between him and Gagan Thapa, the General Secretary of Nepali Congress, are circulating across the media outlets.
“This is our regular meeting. We could not hold it for some months due to our busy schedules,” said Koirala, “There are no differences among the leaders as such in our group. There is nothing to worry about.”
It is unnecessary to make a mountain out of a minor issue of the faction of Nepali Congress, said Koirala. “This is a regular meeting. It should not be misinterpreted as a gap of differences widening or a dispute smoldering in the faction just on the basis of failure to make it happen on time.”
Referring to the establishment, he commented that the Nepali Congress and the country are not moving in the right direction.
“Nepali Congress and the country are not moving in the right direction,” said Koirala, “But our group has not derailed from its ideological track despite adverse situations.”
In response to General Secretary Gagan Thapa’s statement that the lack of dialogue led to misunderstandings, Koirala made it clear that they have no differences on the agenda.
“There were no differences on the party agenda in the past, nor are there today between me and Gagan ji. We planned to hold this meeting yesterday, but failed to do so due to busy schedule of our General Secretary. That’s why it was postponed for it.”
When asked about the meeting convened unilaterally by him, citing Thapa’s statement, Koirala got rather defensive.
“No differences subsist between me and Gagan,” Koirala reiterated, “This is only because of our age gap and different thoughts between us. But, when it comes to agenda, we concur with each other.”
