The Mahasamiti meeting of the ruling Nepali Congress has been adjorned yet again.
A Central Work Execution Committee (CWEC) of Nepali Congress held in Sanepa on Friday decided to reschedule it for February 19 to 22, informed Min Bishwakarma, the chief of the party's Central Information, Communication and Publicity Department.
“We have rescheduled the Mahasamiti meeting for February 19 to 22 due to the imminent elections of the National Assembly,” said Bishwakarma.
The government has decided to hold the National Assembly elections on January 25 next year.
This is the third time the Mahasamiti Meeting has been adjourned. Earlier, the meeting, which was scheduled for November 29 to December 2, had been postponed for December 15 to 18 for the first time citing the Jajarkot earthquake.
Similarly, it was rescheduled for January 1 to 4 citing lack of preparations. This is the third time the meeting has been put off for February 19-22, citing the National Assembly elections.
A faction of the Congress led by Shekhar Koirala was making preparations to exert pressure on the establishment to hold the meeting on time.
