In a statement released by the Ministry of Finance on Wednesday, it was revealed that additional 1 million rupees have been disbursed for the treatment of President Ramchandra Paudel.

The Ministry of Finance, has released details of financial aid provided between mid-July to mid-December 2023. These figures show that a total of 995,935 rupees were disbursed for President Paudel's medical care.

The Finance Ministry states that the funding was doled out in accordance with the President and Vice President's Remuneration and Benefits Act 2074.

Sources confirmed that the funds were issued to the Office of the Prime Minister and the Council of Ministers from the Finance Ministry and used for the President's treatment.

However, the President's Secretariat has stated that Paudel expressed a desire to cover on his own the expenses incurred during his extended medical stay in Delhi, India, last year.

It is worth noting that the government had already provided 5.5 million rupees for Paudel's treatment in the previous financial year.

President Paudel was airlifted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi on April 19 for treatment of chest problems. He returned home on April 30 after receiving the necessary medical attention.

Following a referral from the TU Teaching Hospital, Paudel was earlier flown to AIIMS for specialist care.

A meeting of the Council of Ministers held on June 27, 2023 authorized the payment of 5 million, 502 thousand and 279 rupees to cover President Paudel's medical expenses during his 11-day stay in India.
