Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal "Prachanda" is inaugurating the 400 kV Inaruwa Substation today, a landmark project set to bolster Nepal's electricity transmission and distribution system, particularly in the crucial Morang-Sunsari Industrial Corridor.
Constructed at Bhokraha Narsingh Rural Municipality-4 of Sunsari district, the substation marks a significant step towards strengthening Nepal's energy infrastructure. Prime Minister Dahal, to be accompanied by Energy Minister Shakti Bahadur Basnet and Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) Executive Director Kulman Ghising, will officiate the ceremony amidst anticipation from local residents and industrial stakeholders.
The Inaruwa substation, employing advanced Gas Insulated System (GIS) technology, emerges as the second largest of its kind in Nepal, surpassed only by the Dhalkebar substation in Dhanusa. NEA officials highlight its pivotal role in enhancing power supply to the burgeoning Morang-Sunsari industrial belt, ensuring reliable and high-quality electricity for numerous businesses.
This critical project encompasses the construction of two substations – a 400 kV and a 220 kV unit – at Inaruwa, completed at a combined cost of approximately 3.83 billion rupees. The substation's inauguration marks a significant milestone in Nepal's ongoing quest for energy independence and industrial development.
The Inaruwa substation is expected to directly impact the lives of thousands of residents and businesses in the surrounding region. Increased power availability will not only drive industrial growth and create employment opportunities but also improve the overall quality of life for local communities.
