Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Rekha Sharma, emphasized the importance of a transparent and competitive advertising market for business growth at the Advertising Association of Nepal's (AAN) annual meeting today.

Minister Sharma stressed that transparency benefits everyone including advertisers, media houses, and entrepreneurs. She highlighted the current economic downturn's impact on the advertising market, causing difficulties for both media and personnel.

With economic activity picking up, she expressed optimism about the advertising market's growth. However, she emphasized the need for increased transparency and competition to ensure a healthy environment.

Minister Sharma shared her efforts to achieve this through amendments to advertising regulations. She raised concerns about "extreme anomalies" and commission structures in government-issued ads, indicating a commitment to addressing irregularities.

Minister Sharma's address at the AAN meeting underscores the need for a fair and transparent advertising market to fuel business growth and overcome current challenges. Her commitment to regulatory reform signals a potential shift towards a more ethical and competitive landscape.
