Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has stressed the need to bolster the federal democratic republic for the overall development of the country.
Addressing a district conclave organized by Nepali Congress, Tanahu on Wednesday, Deuba called for consensus and cooperation among the political parties for the consolidation of the federal democratic republic, ruling out the alternative to it.
He also called for unity and cooperation within the party to bolster Nepali Congress. “This is high time we strengthened the party. Only then Nepali Congress can emerge out to be the biggest and the most influential party in the country.”
Given the provisions of the Constitution, Deuab said that the Congress had to contest the elections by forming an electoral alliance,” claimed Deuba.
“The Constitution of Nepal is inclusive in nature,” said Deuba, “No party can garner majority of seats in the elections, alone. Hence, to make out party bigger, we have to form an electoral alliance,” said Deuba.
Deuba said this at a time when Koirala faction of the Congress has been reiterating that the party has to contest the elections without forming the alliance in the 2084 elections.
Similarly, Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Dhanraj Gurung stressed consensus, cooperation and understanding as the mantra that help bail the country out of the present crisis.
Stating that the country is plagued by illiteracy, poverty and corruption, Gurung called for unity and consensus among the Congress, CPN (UML) and CPN (Maoist Center) to move ahead by ridding of these setbacks.
