Foreign Minister NP Saud has said that there have been complaints of hundreds of Nepali people to have been injured and gone missing in the Russian Army.

Talking to RSS, Minister Saud has suspected that around 200 Nepali youths have joined the Russian Army. He said that 100 of them were missing and injured.

"The Russian government has informed that some Nepali citizens have joined the Russian Army and seven of them have been killed," he said. Their family and friends have informed Minister Saud about the missing and injured Nepalis.

When asked what steps the government has been taking to rescue Nepali people from the Russia Army, Saud said, "We have directed the Nepali Embassy in Moscow to convey the Nepal government’s concerns to the Russian government, keeping in mind the interest of the National Human Rights Commission.”

He further shared that “No Objection Certificate” (NOC) have been made mandatory in a bid to discourage Nepali citizens to go to Russia for military recruitment. It is mandatory for a Nepali citizen even if he/she flies to Russia from India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka in South Asia and six countries in the Gulf region before going to Russia.

Saud said that he is in contact with the Ukrainian government and the Nepali Ambassador to Ukraine and holding diplomatic communications with Ukrainian officials for the rescue of those held captive in Ukraine.

Besides, the International Red Cross has also been asked to facilitate the immediate release of the four Nepali prisoners of war, said Saud.

Foreign Minister Saud has also informed that he is taking initiatives for the release of Nepali student Bipin Joshi, who is currently in an unknown condition following the attack by Hamas in Israel.

"I myself have met with the Prime Minister of Qatar and the International Red Cross for the rescue and release of Bipin Joshi," Minister Saud said. I strongly believe that we will be able to free Bipin Joshi in the next ceasefire.”

Ten Nepali students lost their lives in the attack by Hamas in Israel on September 27, while the condition of Bipin Joshi from Kanchanpur is still unknown.
