Nepali Congress (NC) candidate Sita Gurung has been elected as a member of the House of Representatives (HoR) from Tehrathum district.
The 46-year-old Gurung obtained 19,702 votes to beat her nearest contestant Bijaya Subba of the CPN (UML) who secured 18,623. The vote difference between the two is 1,079.
A total of 10 candidates including those from the Sanghiya Loktantrik Rastriya Manch, Rastriya Prajatantra Party and Janata Samajbadi Party Nepal were in the election fray from the constituency.
Manch candidate Bishnu Kumar Chongbang obtained 723 votes. Similarly, octogenarian Yubaram Gautam, candidate of Rastriya Prajatantra Party, received 415 votes.
Of the total 71,933 votes in the constituency, the voter turnout stood at 41,208 (57.29%) in the elections under the House of Representatives held on November 20.
Of them, 39,886 votes were counted while 1,322 votes were declared invalid, said the Office Of the Returning Officer.
Similarly, CPN (Maoist Center)'s Durga Chapagain has been elected as a Province Assembly (PA) member from Tehrathum constituency (B).
Chapagain defeated Tejman Kandangwa of CPN (UML) by a margin of 294 votes. According to the Office of the Chief Returning Officer, Chapagain obtained 8,394 votes against 8,099 received by Kandangwa.
Of the total of 32,812 votes in the Province Assembly constituency (B), 18,800 votes were cast in the elections.
Likewise, CPN (UML) has won the seat of Province Assembly electoral constituency (A) of the district.
UML's Kishor Chandra Dulal garnered 10,063 votes to beat his closest rival Santosh Subba of Nepali Congress who received 9,855 votes. Dulal emerged victorious with a margin of 208 votes.
Of the total 39,121 votes in the PA constituency (A), the voter-turnout stood at 22,423.
