Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has directed the concerned authorities to conclude the integration process of the police at the earliest.

In the meeting summoned at Baluwatar on the integration of the Nepal Police, Prime Minister Dahal asked the ministers and other concerned authorities to be serious about the integration of the police saying that the lack integration posed difficulties for the functioning of the provinces.

“The works of the provincial governments have been affected, thereby giving space for anti-federalist forces to misinterpret and cast a slur on the federal setup,” said Prime Minister Dahal,  directing the concerned ministers to conclude the police integration process within 15 days in line with the Act.”

Participating in the meeting were Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha, ministers, chief secretary of the Nepal government, Dr Baikuntha Aryal, Home Secretary Dinesh Bhattarai, IGP of Nepal Police, Basanta Kunwar, and the officials of the Home Ministry.

The Nepal Police and Province Police (Operation, Supervision and Coordination) Act, 2020 had been approved by the President in February 2020.  However, the integration of the police has not yet been completed.
