Shrestha-led panel formed to elect SEBON Chair

A three-member committee has been formed under the coordination of Dr. Min Bahadur Shrestha, the vice chairman of the National Planning Commission, to elect the chairman of Securities of Nepal (SEBON).

A meeting of the Council of Ministers held on Wednesday formed a three-member panel led by Shrestha, to this effect in accordance with the Section 7 of the Securities Board Act.

Finance Secretary Dr. Krishna Hari Puskar and Udaya Niraula, Associate Professor of Sankardev Campus, are members in the committee.

Now the committee will make a procedure for selecting the chairman and publish an advertisement. Three among those who apply for the post will be selected in line with the procedure. The finance minister will then submit the proposal to the cabinet to appoint one of the candidates recommended as the board chairman.

There are eight aspirants to become the chairman of the SEBON.

According to the source, the Executive Director of the board, Mukti Shrestha, Directors Dr. Nabaraj Adhikari and Krishna Pokharel, former CEO of NEPSE Chandrasingh Saud, former Chairman of Insurance Committee (currently Insurance Authority) Chiranjivi Chapagai, former Executive Officer of the Board Niraj Giri, former Deputy Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank Shivraj Shrestha and Chintamani Siwakoti are in the fray for the covet post of SEBON Chairman.
