UML and RPP form alliance for NA election in Koshi

With just three days to go for the National Assembly elections, the CPN (UML) and Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) have formed an electoral alliance in Koshi Province on Monday.

UML and RPP have formed the alliance for two seats from the Koshi Province today.

The two parties have decided to cast votes for Uddhav Paudel (RPP) on other category and Rukmini Koirala (UML) on women category, according to the agreement.

To be held on January 25, the silence period will start from today midnight for the elections.  

Since the publicity for election campaigns is banned from Tuesday, the two parties reached a written agreement today itself.

With this agreement, the candidacy of Parshuram Adhikari who was fielded by UML, will remain invalid. RPP has not fielded its candidate for the post under women category.

Similarly, the ruling alliance has filed Nepali Congress leader Krishna Sitaula for the NA post under other category and CPN (Maoist Center) leader Champadevi Karki under women category.

UML has 40 province lawmakers, and 112 chiefs and deputy chiefs from locals units in Koshi Province, constituting a total voting weightage 4,248.

Similarly, RPP has six lawmakers and four chiefs and deputy chiefs, whose total voting weightage will be 394.

Similarly, in the ruling alliance, Nepali Congress has 29 lawmakers CPN (Maoist Center) 13, CPN (Unified Socialist) 4 and Janata Samajbadi Party has 1.

Similarly, in the local units, NC has 113, Maoist Center 31, Unified Socialist 7 and JSP 4 chiefs and deputy chiefs. The voting weightage of the ruling alliance will reach 5,436. The total voting weightage of UML-RPP is 4,642.

Given the voting weightage, the ruling alliance will win the elections.
