Chinese CPC leader Sun Haiyan in Kathmandu

Sun Haiyan, deputy head of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, arrived in Kathmandu on Friday afternoon.

The delegation led by Sun Haiyan arrived in Nepal via neighboring country Bangladesh for a four-day visit to Nepal.

The team reached Bangladesh last Tuesday after visiting the Maldives. During her visit to Bangladesh, Haiyan met with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Thursday.

This is the first high-level visit by the Chinese side after the formation of a new government in Bangladesh.

Prior to that, she had a meeting with the President of the Maldives last Monday, Mohamed Muizzu. Some bilateral agreements were signed during her Maldives visit .

After visiting Dhaka, the delegation led by Deputy Head Haiyan landed in Nepal on Friday afternoon.

During her visit to Nepal, the Chinese team is scheduled to meet with President Ramchandra Paudel, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and top leaders of various political parties, according to sources.

Chinese leader Haiyan is also scheduled to hold a group discussion with leaders of various parties at Hotel Soaltee on coming Sunday.
