Sun Haiyan, Vice Minister of the International Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC), said that other countries are trying to play a foul game in the friendly relation between Nepal and China.

While interacting with the leaders of various political parties at Hotel Soaltee in Kathmandu during her four-day visit to Nepal, Haiyan said that the political relations between the two countries are good but which some other countries do not want to see.

She said that the reason for visiting Nepal and holding joint consultations with political parties is to enhance the relationship between the two countries.

She said that the heads of state of both the countries are trying to bolster the relationship and the signing of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) has also cemented the relationship between the two countries.

"This time I held meetings with many leaders of Nepal on behalf of the CPC. Our ambassador has also been working very hard," she said, "We need to work on how to improve China-Nepal relations and cooperate in the new era."

Mentioning that she discussed with Chinese entrepreneurs before arriving in Nepal, she pointed out the need to reform some policies to attract the Chinese investment.

She said that China has invested in the development infrastructure of neighboring countries and Indonesia is an example of that.

Besides, the projects in Nepal with Chinese investment are being delayed due to various reasons including COVID-19, she added.

"We have to sit down and solve it at the earliest. We should have more cultural exchanges. We are working in accordance with the desire to give more scholarships to Nepali students," she said. "We understand that projects are necessary in Nepal for livelihood as well. We are working for that, too. But for that, a policy reform is necessary.”

She said that relations between the political parties of the two countries should be improved and some countries do not want to see good relations between China and Nepal.

He said that China's economy has improved since last year, and Nepal can make good use of it. She emphasized on building Chinese-style development and implementing BRI.

Similarly, Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Chen Song said that when he came to Nepal for the first time, he was asked why Chinese citizens were not visiting Nepal, but now Chinese have started coming to Nepal.

It is a matter of happiness as President Xi said, “The epidemic will not affect the relationship. We are going to improve the relationship between the two countries. There was a new agreement during Prime Minister Prachanda's China visit. That visit has brought our relationship to a new height.”

He further said that China is ready to help Nepal for industrialization, and said that Nepal should work to solve the policy problems.

Saying that the China government has introduced a program to provide scholarships to 150 people from Nepal, Ambassador Chen requested Nepali youths to go and study in China.

Chinese diplomat Sun, who landed in Nepal on January 26, will return home on January 29.
