The ruling CPN (Maoist Center)’s Statute Conference has started at the hall of Nepal Academy in Kathmandu.
The statute conference which began a while ago to amend the party statute was inaugurated by Prime Minister and Maoist Center’s Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’.
Maoist Center's central office's secretary Dor Prasad Upadhyay said that more than 1,200 representatives from across the country are participating in the three-day conference.
Party's central committee members, alternate central committee members, members of the three central commissions, seven territorial and three non-territorial province committees' office-bearers and office-bearers of the sister organizations are attending the conference.
The party said that the Statute Conference is being organized to bring the size of the central committee down to 150.
Earlier, the party had formed a statute drafting committee under the leadership of Vice-chairperson Pampha Bhusal.
The Maoist Center’s CC meeting held for two days had dwelled on the draft of the party statute.
