'Himbu', an autobiography of mountaineer and tourism entrepreneur Lhakpa Sonam Sherpa, was released on Sunday.
The book titled 'Himbu' -- meaning the son of the mountains -- written by Sherpa covers his interesting experiences from his childhood to mountain climbing and tourism businesses in 33 titles.
The autobiography deals with Sherpa's herding life in Solukhumbu to Thamserku Travel, Yeti Airlines, and the Hotel business that Sherpa started after returning to Nepal from France, and the success and hardships of his entrepreneurial career.

Yogendra Shakya, a tourism businessman, said at the book-launch ceremony organized by the SAS Trust at Aloft Kathmandu Thamel on Sunday, "Sonam Sherpa is a workaholic from a village in Solukhumbu. The success he has achieved in trekking, hotel, airline business is amazing."
Born in the Himalayan district of Solukhumbu, Sherpa, who has been climbing mountains since childhood, has named the book "Himbu", which means "the son of the mountains" in Sherpa language.
Thamserku Trekking, a leading adventure-travel company, which has been active in the tourism sector for five decades, became the highest tax-paying company in Nepal for a long time. With Sherpa's investment, an international-level resort hotel, Shinta Mani, is being operated in Mustang, which has been featured in National Geographic's 'Best of the World 2024' list.

Sonam Sherpa, who conversed with journalist Dil Bhushan Pathak for about an hour after releasing the book, recalled that he had expanded his business with his younger brother Ang Tshering Sherpa who lost his life in a helicopter crash.
Sherpa, 63, has indicated that he will gradually become more active in social work by establishing the SAS Trust. He said that the money received from the sale of the book 'Himbu' will be spent through this trust for the social, educational, and economic development of single women, Dalits and marginalized groups in the Himalayan districts along with the development and expansion of tourism.
