UML Member of Parliament Surya Thapa.
CPN (UML) lawmaker Surya Thapa took strong exception to the Nepal government after the Lumbini Province government invited controversial religious leader Dalai Lama to the International Conference for the Development and Peace of Children to be held in Lumbini.
Speaking at a meeting of the House of Representatives on Friday, Thapa stated that inviting the controversial religious guru Dalai Lama to a conference attended by Nobel Prize winners would send negative messages.
Lawmaker Thapa said Foreign Minister NP Saud should be held accountable for this issue.
“The Lumbini Province government is making preparations to hold the International Conference of the Nobel Prize winners in Lumbini on March 11 and 12. We heard that Dalai Lama has also been invited,” said Thapa, “What kind of messages the government is trying to covey to the international community?”
