After reaching agreement on the allocation of ministerial portfolios with its coalition partners, the CPN (Maoist Center) has finalized the selection of its party's representatives for the new cabinet.
According to sources, Maoist Center Deputy General Secretary Barshaman Pun is confirmed to become the new Finance Minister.
Shakti Basnet will lead the Ministry of Energy while Rekha Sharma will take charge of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology as before. Similarly, former Home Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha will look after the Foreign Ministry.
Likewise, Hit Bahadur Tamang has been given the responsibility of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation. The Maoist Center’s three former ministers have repeated but Sudan Kirati.
The four-party new ruling coalition including the Maoist Center and the UML which was formed on Monday has already struck a deal on the ministries. With the agreement on the allotment of the ministerial portfolios, preparations are being made to administer the oath to newly elected ministers at 5 pm today.
According to the agreement, the UML has got eight ministries, the Maoist Center has received five while the RSP and JSP have been given four and two ministries, respectively.
