Former Additional Inspector General (AIGP) of Nepal Police Thakur Mohan Shrestha has been thrashed on the premises of the Central Office of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) on Sunday afternoon.
Cadres loyal to General Secretary Bikram Panday attacked Shrestha, a member of the central work execution committee (CWEC) when he came out after attending the meeting of the party.
Pandey and Shrestha traded in verbal bars during the CWEC meeting today after the latter slapped Pandey with corruption charges.
No sooner had Shrestha left the meeting hall, than the cadres loyal to Pandey went at Shrestha and started charging him with blows. A video footage involving the cadres thrashing Shrestha has also gone viral. Leaders including lawmaker Deep Kumar Singh stopped the irate cadres from beating Shrestha further.
Reacting at the incident, Party Spokesperson Mohan Kumar Shrestha said the party has taken it seriously.
“The party has taken this incident seriously. We will investigate it and take an appropriate decision on it,” he said, “This is against the code of conduct of the party.”
