Papua New Guinea (PNG) has set a 172-run target for Nepal in the triangular T20 series underway at the Mong Kok Cricket Ground in Hong Kong on Wednesday.
Invited to bat first after losing the toss, PNG notched up 171 runs losing eight wickets in the allotted 20 overs.
Tony Ura topped the score with 61 runs including five fours and four sixes off deliveries. Similarly, Alei Nao contributed 30 not out runs including one four and three sixes, Hila Vare made 18 runs including two fours off 21 balls while Hiri Hiri and Kiplin Doriga hit 15 and 14 runs, respectively.
The other batsmen could not achieve significant runs.
On the bowling side, Aakash Chand and Kushal Bhurtel claimed two wickets each while Karan KC and Gulsan Jha grabbed one wicket each for Nepal.
Nepal reached the final by defeating PNG by 85 runs and PNG booked berth in the final by defeating Hong Kong by 10 wickets.
Head-to-head
Nepal and PNG have competed five times in the T20I cricket matches so far.
Of them, Nepal has won four matches and PNG has won one match. PNG has not defeated Nepal since 2015.
Both teams are participating in the tri-series as part of preparations for the upcoming T20I World Cup.
Nepal is in Group 'D' and PNG is in Group 'C' in the T20 World Cup to be held in America and West Indies starting June 1.
