Vice Chairperson of the National Assembly, Urmila Aryal, has resigned from her post on Thursday.
Vice Chairperson Aryal tendered her resignation letter to Chairperson of the National Assembly, Narayan Dahal, effective from today.
Aryal was unhappy with the leadership following Narayan Dahal’s election to the post.
Dahal had been elected to the post through the National Assembly elections held on March 12.
The post was lying vacant after UML’s Chairperson Ganesh Prasad Timalsina’s term expired on March 3.
On February 6, 2023, Aryal, then Standing Committee Member of the Maoist Center, had been appointed the NA vice chairman, unopposed, with the backing of UML and Maoist Center.
She was elected to the post unopposed after Nepali Congress did not field its candidate.
She had defected to the Maoist Center after being neglected by the UML. She had to quit the constitutional post a year after joining the Maoist Center.
