Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has picked Milan Limbu for the by elections to be held in Ilam Constituency 2.
The by election is set to be held on April 27.
Limbu, who announced his candidacy as an independent candidate after renouncing CPN (Maoist Center), has been nominated as a candidate by RSP for Ilam-2 by elections.
Earlier, RSP President Rabi Lamichhane had promised Limbu a ticket.
A total of six candidates were short-listed for the by elections through the preliminary elections of the party.
Limbu, who is also the general secretary of the Federation of Nepalese Indigenous Nationalities Journalists, managed to get the ticket after the party leadership singled him out of six aspirants. Limbu was ranked 5th on the list of selected candidates.
Who is Milan?
Milan Limbu has worked for 15 years in the field of journalism. He worked for ABC and News 24 after joining Makalu Television. He was the editor of Drishti online edition until recently.
Milan, 32, a permanent resident of Ilam-2, has graduated from Tribhuvan University and his family is engaged in farming.
He is also the central general secretary of the Federation of Nepalese Indigenous Nationalities Journalists. A few weeks ago, he announced his candidacy as an independent candidate, after renouncing the CPN (Maoist Center).
Earlier, as soon as he reached the constituency, he received the blessings of Atmananda Lingden, a religious leader living in Mangsebung, Ilam. It is believed that there are at least 5,000 votes in Lingden's fold.
There is a general assumption that the votes of Lingden may impact the by elections this time amid the ongoing identity movement in Koshi Province.
